Having the fate of the world on his shoulders and the fate of his personal relationship with someone swinging in the balance are hardly comparable, but...he's still so nervous.
Izumi isn't backing down, despite Sandalphon's attempts to push him away. If anything, he's doubling down on it. On his feelings, and on wanting to express them.
